In the digital age, some institutions are wary of technology and its perceived threat to time outdoors. Yet, South Coast Botanic Garden (SCBG) sees technology and the outdoors as mutually beneficial concepts. By formalizing social media efforts SCBG saw modernization reverberate through the company including a vital ability to capture data, form an intimate look at the community, and react accordingly. Last summer, SCBG was well-equipped to respond quickly to one of the most rampant technological trends of the decade: Pokémon GO. SCBG adopted a boldly efficient collaboration from the bottom up to respond to the trend and the results were a resounding success! Come explore an organization’s ability to gather data, cultivate their own unique personality, and meet the diverse needs of their community through social media.
